What is the Stanford Journal of International Affairs?

The Stanford Journal of International Affairs publishes undergraduate scholarship on international policy topics annually. The Journal seeks to promote awareness and facilitate discussion about global politics, transnational social and economic issues, international culture, and related topics. SJIA is committed to bringing together a broad range of perspectives to help our readers navigate the complexities of contemporary foreign affairs.

SJIA accepts editor applications every fall. Any Stanford undergraduate is welcome to submit to our journal.

Meet the Team

  • Tina Li

    CO-EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

    Hi, I’m Tianren (Tina) Li, a rising junior majoring in International Relations with a minor in History. I’ve been an editor for SJIA since my freshman year, and I’m truly honored and excited to serve as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal this year! In my free time, I enjoy photography and live music, and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and making new memories!

  • Zoya Fasihuddin

    CO-EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

    Zoya is the Co-Editor in Chief of SJIA for the 2025-2026 term. Originally from Karachi, Pakistan, Zoya is studying Economics and Human Rights, and doing an honors thesis in Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (DDRL). She has been involved with the Journal since her freshman year, and loves to write. On campus, she is also a part of the ASSU Cabinet, Stanford Women in Business, and is an Econ Peer Advisor. In her free time, she works at the SHARE (Sexual Harassment/Assault Response & Education) Title IX and Title VI Office, loves making color-coded schedules, and enjoys analyzing Taylor Swift lyrics.

  • Evan Sing

    MANAGING EDITOR OF OP-EDS

    My name is Evan Sing, and I'm a senior from Michigan majoring in international relations with a minor in translation studies. I served as an editor with SJIA last year, and this year I'm excited to work with members of our editorial staff to launch the Journal's new Op-Ed column. In my free time I love learning languages, playing video games with my friends, and rock climbing at Farillaga :)

  • Katherine Xu

    MANAGING EDITOR

    Katherine is a junior studying Symbolic Systems and coterming in CS. In the past 2 years, she has served as a fellow for SJIA and as an editor. On campus, Katherine is involved in research at the Stanford AI Lab, section leading, and trip leading for the Outdoor center! Originally from Columbus, Ohio, she finds joy in nature, reading, CoHo jazz, and ceaselessly crafting niche Spotify playlists.

    My name is Laura and I'm a junior studying International Relations and Human Rights. I'm new to SIAS but am excited about to get started in my role as a SJIA Editor. In the coming year, I'm looking forward to studying abroad in Madrid in the fall and taking classes for my Human Rights minor. For fun, I like following current events, getting coffee with friends, and going for walks around campus.

    My name is Natalia and I'm a sophomore studying political science and sociology on a pre-law track. I'm thrilled to be joining SIAS this year as an editor for the SJIA. This winter, I'll be studying and interning in Washington, D.C. as part of Stanford in Washington. I'm part of the Shotokan Karate club team, and I love reading, painting, going to the gym, singing and playing guitar.
